Garden of Caves

The Garden of Caves is a hidden natural attraction located in Cherrapunji, Meghalaya. Surrounded by beautiful hills and forests, this place is home to waterfalls, caves, granite formations, and crystal-clear streams. It is perfect for nature lovers who want to explore peaceful surroundings, listen to the sound of flowing water, and capture beautiful photographs.

There are a lot of lovely places in the Garden of Caves, including natural ponds, waterfalls, caves, and large rocks. Each place has its own charm that makes the garden peaceful and full of surprises.

1. Palong Syiem - This cave is beautifully shaped with bed-like designs inside. It’s called The King’s Cave. Its name comes from the fact that a king or tribal chief slept here in the past. A lovely natural spot where water flows gently over rocks, giving a refreshing view.
2. Kshaid Sum Syiem - This is a three-step waterfall that looks stunning, especially during the rainy season.
3. Stieh Maw - Natural rock structures give the garden charm and individuality.
4. KA KREM BA DANG THYMMAI - This cave is naturally built with sandstone and clay. It was found in 2019 by the Park Committee members Mr. Lhai Singh Khongshei, Mr. Kitlang Khongrymmai, Mr. Skai Singh Khongshei, Mr. Stenshon Nongrum, and Mr. Samlang Nongrum. This natural sandstone and clay cave is about 78 meters deep. Hidden for years under sand and rocks, it was visible after heavy rains opened its entrance.
5. Kshaid Thied Dieng (Root Waterfall) – This is a unique waterfall where the stream flows through tree roots. Its rare beauty makes it very special and memorable for visitors.
6. Kshaid Um Lwai – This waterfall is calm and surrounded by lush greenery. It is a peaceful spot, perfect for relaxation and photography.
7. Kshaid Arsdad – This waterfall drops straight from a great height. It offers a thrilling view and is a must-see for nature lovers.
8. U Maw Khyllun - This is a huge rock that stands tall, adding strength and beauty to the natural surroundings.
9. Umdawai - This is a clean natural pool filled with fresh water. Visitors can enjoy crystal-clear reflections in its calm surface.
10. Mawddhhnud - This is a peaceful spot with small streams and rocks. The simple beauty of the place brings calmness to the garden.

Timings of the Park:

1. Garden of Caves is open daily from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. On Sundays Open From 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

Entry Fee (Indians & Foreigners):

1. Adult: ₹100
2. Children (Below 12 Years): ₹100

Is photography allowed inside the Garden of Caves?

1. Yes, photography is allowed inside. but with certain charges:

2. Handy Cam / Video Cam / Drone: ₹500 per hour

Photography & Shooting:

1. Photo Shoot / Wedding Shoot / Video Shoot: ₹1000 per hour
2. Film / Album Shooting: ₹5000 per hour

Parking Charges:

1. Two Wheeler (TWR): ₹10
2. Light Motor Vehicle (LMV): ₹20
3. Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV): ₹40

Visitor Guidelines:

1. Do not garbage inside or around the garden.
2. Keep the surroundings clean.
3. Do not walk without permission in restricted areas.
4. Stay on the walking paths and steps to protect the grass, plants, and flowers.
5. Smoking, alcohol, intoxicants, cutting trees, harming birds, lighting, or using explosives are strictly prohibited.
